God, Obama or McCain?
Hi There,
People around the world are freaked out. The air is charged with fear,
doubt and depression. They don’t know what to do, who to trust or
where to turn.
Can you blame them? All they’ve heard for weeks is how the greed and
corruption of Wall Street have all but ruined Main Streets around the
world.
OBAMA & McCAIN
So in walk Obama and McCain, preaching about how they’re going to
make us happy again, healthy, wealthy and secure.
I’ve got news for you: they won’t.
They can’t part the sea or walk on water. And it would serve us well to
remember that only Jesus was able to multiply the loaves and fishes.
Am I being negative and gloomy? Nope. Here’s my message:
GOD & COMPANY
Don’t place your trust in politicians.
And don’t put your hope in people who are more fearful than faithful.
Put your hope and trust in God and in yourself because of what he’s able
to do in, through you, and for you.
Trust God and partner with him to fix your own life and the lives of
others.
Politicians come and go. Economies are cyclical. The world is fleeting.
God IS eternal.
His promises are eternal.
His power is eternal.
His presence is eternal.
His unfailing love is eternal.
Don’t be wooed by a Prince Charming. Have faith in God and God alone.
This isn’t to say that we shouldn’t pray for our leaders, support them and
work together for a better today and brighter tomorrow. This is a simple
acknowledgment that human beings are finite and limited whereas God
is infinite and unlimited, with grace immeasurable.
YOUR TRUST & HOPE
Trust God and put your hope in him and yourself because of what he can
accomplish through you because of your faith, and you will IMMEDIATELY
start feeling better about what’s going on, I guarantee it.
You must have a belief in God’s ability to provide, sustain and bless. And,
you must have self-belief, too. You and God can do the impossible.
His grace is the ultimate lifting power, and through his indwelling
presence you can rise up and be bigger than your losses and
circumstances.
Worship him—WORSHIP—then Believe.
Worship him—WORSHIP—then Do.
Worship him—WORSHIP—then Act.
Worship him—WORSHIP—then Be.
Worship him—WORSHIP—then NEVER, EVER GIVE UP.
The reality you see with your eyes is irrelevant because God and God
alone IS reality...who alone makes you real. This is your life. This is
what you see. You are one with God and God is one with you and in him
you are free, powerful and unstoppable.
If you want to energize your faith instantly right now, then declare these
truths out loud:
God is my confident expectation.
God is my peace.
God is my supply.
God is my salvation.
God is my deliverance.
God is my restoration.
God is my perfect peace.
God is my refuge.
God is my help.
God is my joy.
God is my success.
God is my security.
God is my hope.
This devotional was triggered by insights gained from studying Psalm 25
in which I did deeper study on the word “trust.”
The Hebrew word is batach. And it means to have confidence in, to be
secure, to feel safe because you rely on God, giving you a sense of well
being and security.
HUMAN TRUST
But I was shocked to learn that batach is used for only two relationships
in this world:
1. Your relationship with God
2. Your relationship with your mate.
The husband-wife relationship is the ONLY human relationship where
batach is commended .
I’ll let you think that one over for a while and decide what it means to
you.
But for me it means that I don’t put my trust in mankind.
My trust and hope are reserved for God and God alone, and for what we
can accomplish together through his power that operates within.
PRAYER OF FAITH
So let me leave you with these two verses from Psalm 25, and let them
be our prayer of faith and worship today...and every day:
“Lord, I turn my hope to You. My God, I trust in You” (Holman Christian
Standard Bible).
Dedicated to Your Spiritual Freedom,
Lynell
